Partial Dentures in Glenmont, NY
Missing teeth don’t look great, but they also affect your overall oral health. All your teeth are designed to work together. When a tooth’s missing, surrounding teeth have to work harder and are subject to additional stress.
At Bethlehem Town Family Dental, we have the solutions you need to restore your healthy smile. We may recommend partial dentures if you’re missing teeth and if your remaining teeth are still healthy enough to support a denture. However, if there aren't enough healthy teeth left to support a partial denture, we would suggest a complete denture instead.
Types of Partial Dentures
There are many types of partial denture materials we can choose from:
This kind of partial denture has a metal base and a covering of acrylic that closely resembles the natural gum. Because it's metal-based, it's typically more functional, rigid, and secure. The denture stays in place better, making it easier to chew and speak properly. However, they may not be the best choice if you’re missing front teeth, since a small amount of metal may show when you smile.
This type of partial denture uses acrylic for the base. In most cases, this is the most affordable option, but it may not be appropriate in all instances. We usually recommend an acrylic base if you’re missing one to three teeth that are very close to each other in the front. These dentures are made for the esthetic purpose of replacing missing front teeth, and they do not help much in chewing food.
This type of denture has a highly esthetic appearance that closely resembles natural gum tissue. The material is flexible, so even if you drop it on the floor, it will not break. We would recommend this type of denture if you’re missing front teeth and want a replacement that looks good and can also help with chewing. If you’re missing many teeth, this option may not be the best for you. Since it looks the best, it's also the most expensive option.
